For two decades Medicine Hat Amateur Operatic Society was central to the cultural scene of our city. They produced operettas with phenomenal staging, costume and, by all reports of the time, talent.
The Society was formed in 1914 to ‘produce operas, musical comedies, etc., thereby providing a means for the development of musical talent and histrionic ability, and generally raise the awareness and appreciation of good music within our city’.
Through costumed portraits and programme covers, get a glimpse of this vibrant period of Medicine Hat’s history of the stage.
