Art Gallery

About The Gallery

The Art Gallery is a dynamic doorway for the visual arts between Medicine Hat and the world, through exhibitions, programming and collections. Every year, we present ten to twelve exhibitions of contemporary and historical art by local, provincial, national and international artists in the Art Gallery’s 3000 square foot exhibition space. The exhibitions are enriched and animated by a wide range of public programs for all ages, including talks, workshops, tours and classes. The Art Gallery develops and maintains the Permanent Collection of Art, a unique repository of regionally significant visual arts, supplemented by national and international works.
The Art Gallery also hosts the regional AFA Travelling Exhibition Program (TREX), bringing dozens of exhibitions and many visiting artists to community venues in outlying areas every year. Funded by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, our TREX region encompasses one quarter of Alberta, with approximately 98,000 annual visitors to some 40 locations.
Through all of its many activities, the Art Gallery sparks imagination and creativity, supporting, animating and developing the visual arts for our community, and beyond.
