Deborah Forbes Lecture Series
A History of the Nude in Western Art - What Can We Learn From People With No Clothes?
In Western art, the undraped figure has carried many different kinds of content: aesthetic, political, philosophical, sociological. These three talks will present an often lighthearted look at why, beyond the obvious, we are so fascinated with the nude as subject.
Deborah Forbes has for many years taught art education, and art and design history at Medicine Hat College. As an artist, she has presented her work in solo exhibitions in Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario and in group exhibitions throughout Canada and the United States.
This lecture series with Deborah Forbes will be held weekly in the Esplanade Studio Theatre on February 2, 9 and 16 from 7 – 9 PM
