Celebrate our city’s art and culture with Art in Motion!
Art is on the move this September on First Street SE, starting at the Esplanade and flowing down the street to Towne Square, and throughout the broader downtown area. This multi-faceted event kicks off at noon and moves into the evening and night. Enjoy FREE all ages daytime activities, including Saamis Immigration SHINE cultural performances, roving street performers, and then wrap up the evening with night shows on the festival stage.
Support, celebrate and engage with local artists and community organizations! Included in the line-up for this year only, we are proud to host from 4-6 PM in the theatre the Lieutenant Governor Alberta Arts Awards, honouring Alberta’s most accomplished artists!
Take in live art demonstrations by local artists and art organizations or get hands on and create it yourself! Enjoy live music, cultural and street performances or get in motion with community groups like Cousins Skateboard Community, Medicine Hat Skateboard Association, Pop Up Parks with Hula from the Heart and the Sensational Path Sensory Bus.
Get bold, bright, and messy in our Colour Blast Zone where you can cool down with a fun watercolor fight then take a stroll through Foam Frenzy. Enjoy our kids zone with FREE face painting, bouncy castles and much more.
Now that you've worked up an appetite stop by one of the local food trucks on location or explore downtown and treat yourself to shopping and more tasty eats!
There will be tons to see and do as you get on the move with Art In Motion!
Local band Snakes and the Riot will be rocking the stage before our headliner closes out the night!
