Workshop – Finding and Telling Your Story: Some Whys, Whats and Hows | 1-2:30 PM
As a songwriter, Dana Wylie has long known that specificity of story and experience is one of the keys to accessing a universality that connects us all. Storytelling is a deeply human impulse, and to engage searchingly with one’s own story can be a powerful process of sense-making and healing, as well as connection to others.
In this workshop, Dana will lead a discussion on the desire for one’s story and its relation to appearance and identity, share her particular process for writing her story in Makings of a Voice, and guide participants through a few simple exercises to get them started down the road of engaging with their own stories – an inevitably rich and rewarding journey for writers, non-writers, and would-be writers alike.
