Summer Art Camp 2023 will be held in the Esplanade Discovery Centre and will utilize the galleries, and local environment for inspiration. Campers will explore their creativity through a variety of mediums including pastels, paint, ink, plaster, printmaking and more!

Projects and art activities challenge children while qualified instructors offer plenty of encouragement, providing a safe environment that promotes exploration, creativity and expression.

We offers different themes for every week allowing campers to sign up for multiple camps without repeating activities. Each week we are accepting children aged 5-12, with a max of 22 children per week.

Summer Camps go from 9 AM - 4 PM. Drop off starts at 8:30 AM, pick up goes until 4:30 PM.

The fees are $175 for all participants which includes materials.
* 4 day weeks are pro-rated to $140.

After registration, watch for an email from us requesting additional camper information. Information about camp policies and procedures will be emailed to parents two weeks prior to the start of camp in the parent information package.

Meet the Instructors:

Amber Kornelson

Hi! My name is Amber, and I am a local educator and emerging artist who has lived in Medicine Hat for about 23 years. I am passionate about creating art using all types of mediums and passing the techniques I have learned on to my students. When I'm not teaching or in my art room, I can be found playing golf, hiking, playing board games or spending time with friends and family.  

Jessica Siwy 

Hi! My name is Jess, and I am currently in school to be a teacher. I have just completed my second year, and hope to teach in a French Immersion Elementary school. I enjoy expressing myself through arts and crafts, and in my free time I like to spend time outdoors with my niece and nephew. I cannot wait for the fun summer we are about to have!

Payment for camps can be made with cash, debit card, Visa or Mastercard at the Esplanade's Guest Services desk in the main lobby, by phone, or online with a credit card. Confirmation of space will be given only when payment has been received in full. A patron may withdraw their registration up to two weeks prior to the start date and will be issued a full refund. No refund will be issued within the two weeks prior to the start date, but withdrawals during that time period will be considered on a case by case basis and may result in a credit applied to the patrons name. No credit or refund will be issued to any withdrawals within three business days before the start date of the program.
